A Rain Delay - Followed by a Rainbow

The Queen West Art Crawl is a two day art show & sale that my husband and I had been preparing for throughout the past couple of months.
They hold the show in a park in September - usually a safe time of the year for weather.
Not that weekend.

After setting up Friday evening (thanks to LOTS of help from my Dad John) the skies just opened up - the rain continued throughout the night.
When we woke up on Saturday morning the rain was supposed to continue all that day - solid rain.  We were pretty upset - and when we got to the park, we realized that if the mud was already that bad, it wouldn't be worth unpacking the car.

We emailed friends, posted on facebook, and basically called a "Rain Delay".
Missing out on an entire day was horrible.
We got to the park bright and early Sunday for Day 2 - my Dad was there at 7am holding parking spots for us!

Thankfully Sunday turned out to be a great autumn day. We had lots of friends come out to support, and as far as sales went, it was one of my most successful shows - and that was with only one day!

Mike & I had our tents side by side!

Above: Pictures in my tent, and these cute little "deer" pieces I made - All 5 of them sold in a couple of hours!

Pictures from Mike's booth above

We had so many visitors!

My brother Mike is above and my Dad to the right. They helped us so much!
Lots of family came to support. My aunts and uncle, and Mike's parents too! They drove two hours to see Mike's art :)

The Jays fan above - Chris, helped lug all our art and gear to the cars, then unpacked everything with us. THANKS CHRIS!

Above Al, Chels & Lucy the dog are checking out my art

To the right are big smiles - because they don't realize all the packing up that's still to come!

Getting Ready for an Outdoor Show & Sale!

My husband Mike Helmer and I have been busy at work for the past few weeks, filling our small condo with art!

We both have booths (side by side) for the Queen West Art Crawl an annual Outdoor Art Show & Sale which takes place in Trinity Bellwoods Park in Toronto.

The show is a free outdoor event which takes place on Saturday, September 21st & Sunday the 22nd, from 11am - 6pm.
The main hub of the Queen West Art Crawl is a two-day juried art exhibition featuring over 250 artists, food vendors, community booths, an exciting entertainment stage, and a family friendly Kidz Zone.

I'm Booth #L24!

I have been busy making some new pieces, as well as making some small "transfer pieces" of my past work - I am transferring images of my work onto boards to create some totally affordable pieces for the show! Fun!

The show in next weekend...I will post more pictures of our booths then!

One Year Later.....

It's been an entire year since my last blog post! I can't believe how the time has flown by.

Here's what I've been up to:
* I worked on my third season of "Candice Tells All" as the stylist and design coordinator
* I planned the dream wedding...and will be sharing some posts with you all on how that came together
* and on June 1st, 2013 we actually tied the knot!
* I finished up on "Candice Tells All", and as of today I am officially unemployed!

Trying to think of that last bit of news as a good thing. Until I find something new, I have lots of art to make, as my husband Mike and I are both doing a big outdoor art show (The Queen West Art Crawl) this September.

Mike and I are leaving in a few days for our honeymoon.  We will be going on a cruise to Barcelona, Venice, Rome, Dubrovnik, Florence, Kotor and the Amalfi Coast! Sooo excited - if that doesn't inspire some art making, what will?

I'm still trying to get into the groove of blogging regularly, so thank you to my followers who are patiently waiting for me to post something interesting!

Lots of love, and stay tuned for some crafting, designing and creating!!!

xo

It's become my new obsession.  I am finding lots of inspirational imagery, which I post on my LOVE Vintage Style Board.
I am working on three new paintings of women in vintage bathing suits for Toronto's AWOL Gallery Square Foot Show that I will be sure to post soon.
