Exhibition CV

Bio/Statement
A mixed-media artist, Katelyn Di Giulio completed her BFA Degree at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick and the ISP at Toronto School of Art. Her work is inspired by and plays with ‘the feminine’ and craft work, pop culture and film, fabrics and fashion, vintage and kitsch. Her art is highly process-based, and the pieces are mostly series-oriented, such as her 'hoop' or "Desperate Housewife" pieces. She relies on both happenstance and nostalgia to create playful woks, which incorporate collage, photography, fiber and sculptural elements.

Newest Work

Here are some pieces I have been working on this past year...

COLLAGES:

As you will see most of the photos are just snapshots of the pieces, as so it may be hard see much detail.
The above piece is a small collage I made, and then had it enlarged and added fabric underwear and paper flowers. The piece is called "Panty Raid" and is currently being shown at The Women's Art Association on Prince Arthur in their "Scapes" show.

The above piece is one of two similar pieces using photos I took at Fashion Week last year, lace, ribbon and wallpaper.

These two collage above were sold during this year's Whodunit at OCAD

This piece was made by request of the curator of the Y.E.S Art Work Gala. It was auctioned off in their charity fundraiser, and was made using prints of one of my collages, mounted on wooden panels, and then more collage elements were added.

The above collage was also auctioned off in a fundraiser, this one for the Artist Network of Riverdale's LITTLE ART SHOW

This is a scan of a small collage I made.

SHADOW BOXES:

I plan on making a lot more shadow boxes. Hoops and Shadow boxes will be my two focuses for the next while...

The above was a commissioned piece for a bride-to be. In the background are law books, her University banners and a little framed photo of the couple.

HOOPS:

I decided to take my hoop pieces a step further by building open shadow boxes for them. I chose fabrics, papers or imagery to compliment some of the hoops. I have recently decided to now do this same process with new hoops that I am working on, but use pre-made shadow box frames with glass.

The quality of the photos aren't great, as I mentioned, BUT I'm in the process of having them all reshot.
